Pac-Man 256 game hot to mobile phone

Description Pac-Man

Pac-Man is no stranger to the mobile world, but most of his games are just the classic maze runner scaled down to phone size. Wouldn’t it be nice if the yellow chomper got a game that’s actually meant for small screens. A glitchy maze where anything can happen with one of the most iconic video game characters of all time. This game is totally worth a download.

Pac-Man 256

It recently launched Pac-Man 256, an Android and iOS game that blends old-school gameplay with the endless runner format that you’ve seen in big-name smartphone titles like Temple Run.

Pac-Man 256 was developed for Bandai Namco by Hipster Whale, the studio best known for the mobile game Crossy Road. Their popular car-dodging adventure is sometimes described as “Infinite Frogger,” so it’s not a huge surprise to see them reimagine another classic ’80s arcade game with similarly endless levels.

How to play pac man 256

You still have to navigate twisty corridors and avoid ghosts, but this time you’re also outracing Pac-Man‘s infamous level 256 glitch — no power pellet will save you if you move too slowly. It’s an intriguing concept, although you’ll want to watch out for the ugly side of modernization… that is, in-app purchases.

Most arcade games that have been transitioned to a touch screen interface tend to suffer from the lack of crisp control. This is not the fact for 256. Granted, it’s not an exact replica of traditional Pac-Man, but it’s better for it. The addition of power-ups and ghosts with new patterns of behavior add replay value.

You can last quite a long time without paying a cent, but Bandai Namco is hoping that you’ll shell out anything from 99 cents to $8 to get a credit boost and keep your run going. So long as you don’t mind the occasional cash grab, though, this could be a good way to rekindle your nostalgia while you’re waiting for the bus.

  • Pac-Man perfectly reinvented for your mobile phone or tablet
  • Outsmart ghosts with over 15 ridiculous power ups: Laser, Tornado, Giant and much more
  • Stay ahead of the super-villain lurking in Pac-Man since the beginning: The Glitch
  • Take on a new gang of revived retro-ghosts including Sue, Funky, and Spunky
  • Waka waka on Pac-Dots and string a 256 combo for a super special surprise
  • Controller support
  • Play it on Nvidia Shield

The game is free to download, and every day you’ll be only allotted six credits. Each play costs one credit, though you can use another credit to continue when you die—but only once. After that, you’ll start over at the beginning. You can also choose “free play” which will allow you to keep going after you’re out of credits, but with none of the power-ups that make it so much fun.

This game is “inspired by the famous Level 256 glitch”, a bug in the original Pac-Man that broke the walls of the level and replaced them with glitchy alphanumeric soup.
Pac Man 256 takes the basic concept of Pac-Man and extends it into an endless scrolling game. In the new game, that glitch catastrophe chases you from the bottom of the screen. It employs standard free-to-play techniques like an energy system for credits and a purchasable coin doubler. You swipe up, down, left and right to keep Pac-Man moving upward and out of harm’s way, dodging ghosts and grabbing pellets as quickly as you can while the map unfolds in front of you. It’s a leaderboard chase, where you try to beat your own high score and the high scores of others, deriving satisfaction from advancement, not completion.

Players can expect to encounter plenty of Pac-Dots, Power Pellets, and the notorious ghost ensemble: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Power-Ups give Pac-Man new abilities to kill ghosts and gain extra points. Power-Ups take the place of dots on the play field. New power-ups are unlocked by eating dots over multiple games.
Pac Man 256 is a free-to-play game, and its F2P mechanics have been cleverly implemented. It’s easy to download the game and start playing for free, but each game costs one “credit,” and when you die, you’ll have a one-time chance to spend a second credit to continue.
